IP Voice
IP voice (also called IP telephony) products allow organizations to carry voice traffic over their internal IP data network. IP telephony is a suite of Voice-Over-IP enabled services including the interconnection of phones for communication, related services such as call accounting and dialing plans, and phone features such as conferencing, transfer, forward and hold. These services might previously have been provided by a PBX.
IP telephony is different from voice-over-public internet phone calling which uses the Internet for connecting phone calls, especially for consumers. Using managed private networks, companies have more control in ensuring that voice quality is as good as, if not better than, the services they would have previously experienced with their traditional phone system, as well as allows them to better handle security.
